Project: Rebrand one of largest traveling student film festivals in the world.

Objective: Create a more modern and youthful look and feel for the CMF brand identity, update all touring assets, and set standards for partnerships and sub brands.

CMF Photoshoot where I gave creative direction, completed photo editing, and layout design for Prime Video partnership.

Campus Movie Fest is a wildly fun, nationally touring festival that gives college and university students a sweet opportunity - regardless of their filmmaking experience levels. They hook these ambitious student filmmakers up with free equipment for one glorious week to create a 5-minute short film masterpiece.

When they were celebrating their 14th year of operation, I was lucky enough to be tasked with rebranding this awesome fest. My mission? Create a recognizable brand that perfectly captured the high-octane energy and go-getter spirit of these young creatives.

My logo design packs a punch with a bold focus frame surrounding the type, plus a playfully placed "play button" icon cheekily dotting the "i." These subtle moviemaking nods, combined with the raw, imperfect letterforms, represent the students as they take their first steps and grow through the filmmaking process. I saw so many possibilities for using the focus frame to spotlight people or info in delightful ways, not to mention countless avenues to run wild with that iconic play button for patterns, textures, and more.

With all the assets I dreamed up for print and digital, I was able to lay the foundation for a tremendous brand identity. It's so satisfying to check out their website now and see how the brand has organically evolved year after year with new asset additions, while still incorporating every core element I originally created. This brand will always hold a special place in my creative heart!

Creating Sub-Brands

CMF had Terminus Film + Gaming Conference as a sub-brand and was looking to expand by potentially partnering with major film festivals like Cannes and Tribeca. In the past, CMF had offered students the opportunity to travel and participate in the Cannes Short Film Corner, providing a packaged experience.

Below is part of my sub-branding exploration, testing out configurations and possible colors.
